
Oshawa Councillor Louise Parkes who is in Ottawa attending AMO (Associations of Municipalities in Ontario) and representing Oshawa Mayor John Gray was present for Premier Dalton McGuinty's announcement that $1.1 billion of the provincial surplus will be given to Ontario Municipalities for infrastructure funding.

The Premier also announced that the Municipal and Provincial Service review has taken longer than expected but an announcement will be forthcoming shortly. This review is looking at up-loading services to the Province that should not be paid for out of municipal property taxes.
Councillor Parkes credits AMO and its past President Roger Anderson, and L.U.M.C.O. members (Large Urban Mayors Caucus of Ontario) like Mayor John Gray, who have built strong working relationships with the Provincial Government. "Their Collective efforts over the past two years have laid the foundation for this announcement today by the Premier. The Premier’s announcement is good news for homeowners in Oshawa and across Durham Region."
