From Oshawa This Week - UOIT to build public plaza in downtown Oshawa - July 5 2010

It really is incredible how much of a positive impact UOIT is having on our downtown. A renewed Regent Theatre on King Street, A New 5 Story Faculty of Criminology on Bond, the renewal of the old Scotia Bank building on Simcoe for the Faculty of Education, The renewal of the Alger Press Building on Charles street (WALK BY IF YOU ARE DOWNTOWN, THE WORK BEING COMPLETED HERE IS SIMPLY INCREADIBLE) and now additional public green space for the students, downtown businesses, employees and patrons to share. I truly believe UOIT's commitment to our City is the beginning of a revitalized Oshawa we can all be proud of. As your future Mayor I will work as hard as i can to ensure a strong bond between UOIT and City Hall is maintained so we can continue to grow together with pride.

I would like to know what the people of Oshawa's top ten concerns are.  I am looking for positive discussion only, and would like to see some issues that are outside of the usual topics such as taxes.

A great example of new positive conversation is Marissa Kata's question regarding Bicycle lanes being implemented in our future construction plans.

Please folow this link if you would like to contribute the Bicycle path conversation

An Open Letter From Louise Parkes - 01-15-2010

Our greatest leaders are those who can look at what we have today and can envision how it can be used to create a better future. I have always taken an approach where municipal leaders need to have their feet firmly grounded in the city of today, but with their eyes looking directly into the future. This allows us to create a workable vision for the future, where we have an understanding of where we have come from, and how we can realistically use what we have to create the foundations for a better tomorrow.

I have always recognized Oshawa as Ontario’s best kept secret, with a well established economic infrastructure and citizenry that are productive and engaged. It has only taken a bit of  promoting for others to start taking notice that Oshawa is fast becoming …

The most desirable Canadian city to live in.

Imagine our future...

Imagine our Oshawa...

Imagine what could be...
